Abstract

The electrochemical behaviors of Triton X‐100 were studied by cyclic voltammetry. In comparison with the indiscernible signals at a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and a dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate modified glassy carbon electrode (DHP/GCE), Triton X‐100 exhibited a sensitive oxidation peak at an acetylene black‐dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate modified glassy carbon electrode (AB‐DHP/GCE), due to the enhanced adsorption of Triton X‐100 at the acetylene black particles as well as the hydrophobic DHP layer. The results showed that the oxidation current was linear with Triton X‐100 concentration in the range 1.0×10−8∼2.5×10−6 mol·l−1. For six parallel measurements, a low relative standard deviation (RSD) of 1.56% was obtained. The detection limit (LOD) and the quantification limit (LQD) deduced from the calibration straight line were 3.77×10−9 mol·l−1 and 1.26×10−8 mol·l−1, respectively. This method was applied to the determination of Triton X‐100 in recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine and the result was comparable with the high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method.
