Abstract
We report some details of the FeCl3 immobilized in chitin. The polymer was characterized by infrared and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Chitin modified with iron (CH-Fe) was used as a support for thin layer chromatography and column chromatography for separation of phenolic compounds. The results show that CH-Fe can be used as an alternative support for immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
