SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SEVEN-COORDINATE NIOBIUM(V) COMPLEXES WITH THIOCARBOHYDRAZONES

Abstract

Niobium(V) complexes [NbCl₃L] (where LH₂ ˭thiocarbohydrazones derived from thiocarbohydrazide with salicylaldehyde, 5-CH₃, 5-Cl, 5-Br, 3-OCH₃ substituted salicylaldehyde and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde) have been synthesised and characterised on the basis of elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, IR, UV-Vis, ¹H NMR and thermal studies. The ligands behave as dibasic tetradeńtate ONNO donors.
