Abstract

Owing to the particularity of the steel bridge deck pavement, the gussasphalt concrete did not show better high-temperature stability. This paper presented a fundamental approach to investigate how the high temperature properties of gussasphalt concrete are affected by binder types, contents and mixture gradation. A series of experiments were conducted to improve the performance of composite gussasphalt concrete at high temperature. The experiments data indicated: to improve the high-temperature performance and not affect its construction workability, there has an optimal mixing time of 3 h; the coated macadam spraying quantity of 10 kg m-2 is recommended; appropriate reduction of the under layer’s thickness can improve the high-temperature performance; modifier has great effect on dynamic stability; the difference for the three kind of gradation’s dynamic stability is small; the dynamic stability increased with adding Trinidad Lake Asphalt content from 25% to 30% and decreased with the increased of bitumen content.
