Abstract

This paper aims at the formation of law of the reliability in grinding process and the shortage of assurance technology to study the reliability of the technology of grinding process by recognising the potential causes and mechanism of the failure of the process. Physics of failure of grinding process flaw is studied by the finite element simulation, and the effect of residual stress on the typical process flaw is explored. Then, the product surface residual stress is regarded as the bridge between the grinding process parameters and product reliability. This paper establishes the grinding process reliability model by collecting the related test data through both instrument measuring and destructive testing method. As mentioned above, the influence of process parameters on product reliability is explored, and the technical basis is provided for appraisal and improvement of grinding process.
