Abstract
The cold rolling textures of oriented silicon steel produced by thin slab casting and rolling (TSCR) were studied in the laboratory. Based on φ2 = 45° sections of the X‐ray orientation distribution functions (ODFs) analysis, the subsurface texture of hot‐rolled sheet consists of ϵ(TD//〈110〉) fibres. The texture of cold‐rolled sheet mainly consists of α. (〈110〉//RD) and γ (〈111〉//ND) fibres, and Goss texture ({110}〈001〉) disappears. The γ‐fibre texture is clear for total reductions between 58% and 85%. The highest {111}〈112〉 orientation density of 6·6 can be obtained in one‐stage cold rolling by a two‐roller mill with Φ160 mm roller. When cold rolled to 1·0 mm by a two‐roller mill with Φ160 mm roller, then to 0·35 mm by a four‐roller mill with Φ90 mm working roller, this value decreases to as low as 2·8.
