Notes
1 I am translating ‘paesaggio’ as cultural landscape (‘paesaggio’ being the expression of the intervention of the human being on the natural environment over the course of centuries), and ‘ambiente’ as environment. I found it more difficult to translate ‘territorio’, which in the context of this book also has a socio-cultural connotation, in many cases of a regional character. I translate it as ‘local district’, in the sense of a circumscribed geographical area where human activities are performed and in which the local community finds its space of reference.
2 My translation.
3 My translation. 1 c. 2, cited the book under review, p. 260)
