Table 1 Definition of transfusion-related acute lung injury

Suspected TRALI	• Acute onset within 6 h of the end of blood transfusion
	• PaO2/FiO2 <300 mmHg
	• Bilateral infiltrates on frontal chest radiographs
	• Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure of 18 mmHg or less, or no clinical evidence of left atrial hypertension
	• No other risk factor for acute lung injury
Possible TRALI	Same as for suspected TRALI, but another risk factor is present for acute lung injury
