Figure 1 Upon application, an initial priming dose of scopolamine is released from within the adhesive layer in order to saturate binding sites on the skin. The subsequent delivery of scopolamine, from the reservoir, is determined by a rate-controlling membrane and is designed to produce stable plasma levels within a therapeutic range.
