Abstract
Under hydrothermal conditions using a flexible ligand 2,2′ -diphenyl dicarboxylate acid (H2L) and Ho2O3, a novel one-dimensional(1D) Ho(III) complex [Ho2L3(H2O)2]n (1) containing 8-coordinated Ho(III) centers (Ho1 and Ho2) can be isolated. L2 − ligands adopt two kinds of bridging coordination modes: symmetry four-coordinated and asymmetry five-coordinate modes. Interestingly, Ho1 and Ho2 are bridged by L2 − ligands forming two kinds of different 1D chains, in which infinite right- and left-handed helical Ho-O-Ho linkage can be observed. TGA, FT-IR and elemental analysis of 1 were also investigated.
