Following hard on the heels of the first Special Issue of Knowledge Management Research & Practice (KMRP), we are pleased to present the second, which completes Volume 7 of KMRP. This time the topic is ‘Measuring and Managing Knowledge Assets Dynamics’ and the onerous but rewarding task of Guest Editor has been taken on by Giovanni Schiuma, of the Università della Basilicata, Potenza, Italy. We thank him for all his hard work. This field of study brings in elements of three of the four main areas within the scope of KMRP, namely intellectual capital, knowledge management and organisational learning. As such it is both important and timely to dedicate a Special Issue to the topic, since it contributes to KMRP's mission to help unify the various disciplines in the field. The quality and quantity of submitted papers has exceeded our expectations, to the point where they have overflowed the space available for the issue. This is the sort of problem that an Editor is delighted to have, indicating as it does a flourishing field with scope for much more research (for future submission to KMRP, naturally!). Giovanni Schiuma's own editorial paper sets the scene for both the field in general and the Special Issue papers in particular: we trust that you will both enjoy and be stimulated by reading them.

If you would like to propose a Special Issue topic for KMRP, or have any other suggestions, please contact the editor ([email protected]). Volunteers to join our panel of reviewers are always welcome: please contact the editor at the same e-mail address.
