Abstract
The three themes of this article are that:

Warren Gilchrist
WARREN GILCHRIST is Professor of Management Science at Sheffield Hallam University, where he has had various roles as Head of Department and Dean for the last twenty five years. He has worked in the areas of Statistics, Quality and OR and the interfaces between them and is author of two books on the modelling theme. Professor Gilchrist is ex-Chairman of the Institute of Statisticians and currently Chairs the Yorkshire and Humber-side OR Group of the OR Society.
