Abstract
Graphs are presented on which the empirical distribution function can be plotted to test the assumption of normality by the Lilliefors test. A second set of graphs is presented for using the Lilliefors test on exponential distributions. The graphs allow for tests at the 10 percent, 5 percent, and 1 percent levels of significance. Use of these graphs makes it easy for students in a first course in statistics to test normal and exponential distributions without having to unravel the mystery associated with putting together a chi-squared goodness-of-fit test.
