Abstract

Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma Spectrometry (ICAP) has been used in a simple way to determine the sulfate content of a complex mixture. the method was based on the determination of excess barium after the sulfate in the mixture was selectively precipitated using a known amount of a standard barium chloride solution. the results obtained were in excellent agreement to those obtained using the conventional gravimetric method. A considerable time saving factor was also noted.
