Laboratory Controlled Studies on the Uptake and Bioaccumulation of Vanadium by Crawfish (Procambarus clarkii)

Abstract

The uptake and bioaccumulation of vanadium by crawfish (Procambarus clarkii), in particular the exoskeleton, muscle tissue, and gills was investigated and found to be in elevated concentration levels when vanadium was in an aqueous phase but could not be determined (below detection limit) when the vanadium was in a vanadium containing Venezuelan crude oil phase.
