This special issue containing 10 invited papers is dedicated to the 65th birthday of Professor Boris Mordukhovich who made fundamental contributions to variational analysis, generalized differentiation, and their various applications. Variational analysis is a rapidly growing area of mathematics with numerous applications to optimization, control theory, economics, engineering and many other disciplines. It is remarkably observed that variational analysis has been extensively investigated recently both in theory and applications. Ten contributed papers in this special issue contain most recent results in this research area. We sincerely thank the authors of this special issue. Without their contributions, this special issue would not come out successfully.
