Acknowledgments

Many individuals have contributed to this publication. The idea of a fifth issue of Annals each year that concentrates on a topical issue is supported by the Council and Executive Committee of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) and is also supported by the publisher, Routledge of the Taylor and Francis Group. The editors of the Annals equally are all committed to the special issues and provide each other with considerable support. The experiences of Audrey Kobayashi in editing the 2009 special issue on “Geographies of Peace and Conflict” were particularly informative and helpful for this second special issue. An initial call for abstracts for the special issue received seventy-seven responses, of which forty-one were invited to submit manuscripts. All those who submitted abstracts and manuscripts are thanked and acknowledged, particularly for their cooperation with the timetable and its evolution. In addition, I thank and acknowledge the Annals Editorial Board members and referees who provided timely feedback on abstracts and manuscripts. Finally, and profoundly, my thanks go to Robin Maier and Miranda Lecea in the Editorial Office at AAG who managed the whole process leading to production of the issue.
