Acknowledgments

I wish to express my sincere thanks to a number of individuals who helped make this special issue possible. The thoughts and experiences of both Karl Zimmerer and Mei-Po Kwan who edited the preceding two special issues (Zimmerer Citation2011; Kwan Citation2012) were extremely valuable in steering me clear of many of the review, editing, and production pitfalls that can sometimes accompany these special issues. I profoundly appreciate the work of the authors of this special issue, who were given a fairly tight time table for writing and revision and who have produced excellent articles of which I am very pleased. My thanks must also go to the many reviewers and editorial board members who contributed careful, insightful reviews and comments that have been used to improve the works in this issue. Peter Muller made many suggestions in finding a book review essayist and making that process smooth, and I am very pleased to have James Wescoat's thoughtful book review essay in this special issue. Jane Atha helped me in the early stages of the special issue to organize the abstract submissions. Finally, I cannot emphasize enough the extraordinary work done by the Managing Editors of the Annals, Robin Maier and Miranda Lecea. They have pushed when needed, smoothed the process as much as possible, and helped make the final products of very high quality.
