Summary
This article describes an approach to participative planning in the context of a small urban park, including the process of developing the management plan, brief reference to the plan itself and comment on issues that arose during the process. The suburbs of Hughes and Garran in Canberra’s Woden Valley include a small area of mostly planted woodland. In the past decade, this woodland has been partly maintained by a volunteer group which, in collaboration with the land owner, is developing and implementing a management plan to further improve the woodland.
