The Pain Patient Profile: Data from an Australian chronic pain sample

Pages 97-100 | Published online: 02 Feb 2007

Abstract

The Pain Patient Profile (P3) was administered to 105 Australian patients with chronic pain. Their results were compared with the test's normative data from an American pain sample to ascertain whether the P3 could be used with Australian patients and interpreted using the reported normative data. It was found that the Australian sample obtained scores on the three clinical scales that were not significantly different to the normative data. Furthermore, less than 1% of the Australian sample obtained a Validity Index score above the recommended score for invalid responding. It was concluded that the P3 normative data are appropriate for use with an Australian chronic pain population.
