This special issue features a selection of five quality papers originally submitted for inclusion in the proceedings of the Ni–Co 2017 (4th International Conference) that was held during the 56th Conference of Metallurgists of 2017. The Conference took place in Vancouver, Canada between August 27 and 30, 2017.
Ni–Co 2017 invited professionals from different posts of engagement, such as industry, government and academia, including students, to meet and immerse in an inspiring and productive information exchange. It brought together hydro- and pyro-metallurgists to discuss the most recent science and technology achievements that answer the needs of the metals industry for sustainable operations with respect to preserving the quality of our environment.
All contributors and peer reviewers are gratefully acknowledged; the former for their quality submissions, and the latter for their detailed scrutiny of these submissions. The papers in this special issue are expected to be heavily cited and have a lasting value.
