Cytology of Chlamydospore Germination and in Vitro Development of Protomycopsis Species

SUMMARY

Observations are described on the nuclear behaviour relative to the chlamydospore germination, sporogenesis and in vitro chlamydospore development in Protomycopsis patelii Pavgi and Thirumalachar and Protomycopsis thirumalacharii Pavgi, respectively parasitic on Phaseolus mungo L. and Sesbania grandiflora Pers. Taxonomy and phylogenetic relationship of the genus Protomycopsis Magnus and family Protomycetaceae are discussed in the light of these observations.
