How Can Student Success Support Teacher Self-Efficacy and Retention?

Abstract

As they embrace their new profession, teachers across the country face many challenges as they strive to reach all students and have each succeed. Student success or lack of success impacts teacher self-efficacy, and ultimately the decision as to whether to remain in the profession. This article explores how teachers can support the academic success and positive self-image of their adolescent students and how that helps support teacher retention. Ten “keys-to-success strategies” are offered in supporting teacher self-efficacy and retention.
