Experimental Study of Mechanically Induced Self-Propagating Reactions in Metal–Sulfur Mixtures

Abstract

An investigation of mechanically stimulated self-propagating reactions has been carried out for different conditions of mechanical activation in the Zn−S−Sn system. The obtained results are generalized with focus on the determination of induction period preceding the ignition of mechanically induced self-propagating reactions (MSR). Accompanying phenomena and MSR features are studied and discussed.
