ABSTRACT
This Special Issue includes selected research papers expanded from work that was presented at the 27th International Colloquium on the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems (ICDERS), held July 28–August 2, 2019, in Beijing, China. The topics at this colloquium, as customary for all prior ICDERS, comprise two general categories: the dynamics of explosions, exploring the interrelationship between energy deposition in compressible media and the flow field, as occurs typically in detonations; and the dynamics of reactive systems, studying the steady and nonsteady coupling between flow systems and exothermic reactions occurring within them, as occurs typically in deflagrations. In the 26th Colloquium, the results of analytical, computational, and experimental research from around the world on these topics were presented. This special issue volume includes representative works from the Colloquium.
