Ignition of a Gaseous Mixture by a Heated Surface

Pages 135-140 | Published online: 10 May 2007

Abstract

The steady-stale theories of ignition of a premixed gaseous mixture by a hot surface are examined. Numerical results show that the Van't Hoff criterion produces ignition temperature values that compare very favorably with values obtained by the absolute theory. At the same lime, the values of the Ignition First Damköhler number calculated using the Van't HofT criterion are in error by about 50%.
