Abstract
Velocity and concentration measurements were taken using specially fabricated probes for the initial region of a concentric air jet containing sand particles in the secondary stream. Similarity of velocity and concentration distributions is observed in the annular shear layers. A theoretical model is developed to predict the entrainment and it is seen that particles enhance the mixing. This trend is confirmed by experimental results.
