Determination of Surface Heat Flux in the Burning Zone During Wind-Aided Flame Spread Using Burned PMMA Samples

Pages 187-190 | Received 07 Jul 1992, Accepted 10 Nov 1992, Published online: 27 Apr 2007

Abstract

An expression is obtained which provides the net surface heat flux in the burning zone during wind-aided flame spread. The expression uses the final thickness of the burned sample to calculate the net heat flux. It was found that the net surface heat flux in the burning zone increases with the increase in free stream velocity and decreases with the streamwise distance.
