Carbon Mineralization Kinetics and Soil Fertility Induced by Organic and Bio-Fertilization Through Different Incubation Periods

ABSTRACT

Agricultural practices such as fertilization considerably influence soil carbon dioxide (CO2) fluxes that cause climate changes. The study aims to test the influence of various organic (vermicompost, VC, and rabbit manure, RM) and bio (Azotobacter and Azospirillum) fertilizers in addition to incubation times on CO2flux, carbon (C) mineralization kinetic, and some soil chemical properties. The dual exponential equation was the best one to describe carbon mineralization kinetics compared to the 1st and 2nd order equations. Carbon half-lives were resided by 18.98, 1.97, 2.00, 1.89, and 2.53 years for control, VC without and with bio, RM without and with bio treatments, respectively. The results exposed that applying VC and RM without or with bio-fertilizer reduced soil reaction (pH) that differ than control treatment after 2 months incubation. Applying VC and RM caused a significant increase in soil salinity (EC) compared to the control. Available nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were significantly enhanced with adding different fertilizers compared to pre-treated soil. It is found that adding organic and bio-fertilizers improved fertility and soil quality.
