Abstract

A laboratory robot has been used to assess the performance of a commercially available flow‐through junction pH electrode. The electrode was tested for accuracy and precision in the determination of soil‐water pH (pHw) and the Shoemaker, McLean, and Pratt buffer solution pH (pHSMP). The significance of the pHSMP determination lies in subsequent calculations of soil lime requirement (LR). Response times and hysteresis effects were compared under different operating conditions.
