Although not published in its original form, it was circulated to interested colleagues, including Harry McLaughlin, who drew on it for his paper on ‘psycho‐logic’ (1963), and by Edwin Peel (1971) himself, who quotes it in his paper in Nature.It has been substantially re‐written as part of the present tribute to my Ph.D. supervisor.
