Abstract
This work deals with theoretical and experimental investigations of electronic structure of Ag2CdI4 superionic compound. The band energy structure was calculated and optical absorption and luminescence spectra were studied in temperature region 77–300 K. It was shown that the conduction band is formed by 5p-, 5s-orbitals of Cd and 5s(Ag)-orbitals, while the valence band consists of 4d(Ag)- and 5p-, 5s-orbitals of the iodine. The interpretation of the bands observed in luminescence and absorption spectra is proposed within the framework of the results calculated.
