Abstract
The paper details the preparation of PZT-PVdF composites of 50 Vol% with 0–3 connectivity using densified and calcined reinforcement by hot press technique and the analysis of the depoling studies to know the contribution of the individual phases to the piezoelectric charge coefficient. The homogenous distribution of PZT reinforcement in the polymer matrix was confirmed by SEM studies. The composites prepared with densified PZT as reinforcement were found to exhibit higher piezoelectric coefficient when compared to the calcined one. The depoling study reveals that the d33 value in the composites prepared with densified reinforcement is contributed by the ceramic phase and for the composite with calcined reinforcement the polymer alone contributes to the d33 value.
