Abstract
Molecular structures and their relation to the mesogenic behavior as well as physical parameters of orthoconic antiferroelectric smectic phases formed by partially fluorinated esters are reviewed. New multicomponent mixtures with long pitch and their electrooptical performance are demonstrated.
