Abstract

In this study, in order to develop the composition ceramics for low loss multilayer piezoelectric devices for energy harvesting using strong vibration, Pb(Zn1/2W1/2)O3-Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O3-Pb(Zr0.48Ti0.52)]O3 (abbreviated as PZW-PMN-PZT) ceramics were fabricated according to the amount of PZW substitution, using two-stage calcination method and conventional mixed oxide process. And also, their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. PZW substistution improved all the piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics due to the increase of sinterability. Crystal structure showed tetragonal phase without secondary phase. The piezoelectric constants values of d33 and g33 have to possess higher values as far as possible for the applications as energy harvesting piezoelectric devices using strong vibration. In this experiment, 5mol% PZW substituted specimen sintered at 930°C showed a maximum value of density = 7.905g/cm3, kp = 0.585, d33 = 351pC/N, g33 = 25.3 10−3 Vm/N and Qm = 1,254, respectively, for energy harvesting device applications.
