Abstract

Composites of BST:MgO were prepared using nano size particles and processed using multi-mode microwave sintering technique. The anisothermal behavior during microwave heating was examined to process electronic composite materials and to achieve the desired 3-0 connectivity of the phases. The difference in the absorption rate of microwaves of BST and MgO under the microwave field contributed to achieve the desired connectivity pattern in the resulted composites with low dielectric constant and appreciable electric field dielectric tunability and thus the high figure of merit. The connectivity patterns were studied using scanning electron microscopy. EDS was carried out to study the chemical reactivity between phases formed during the MW sintering process.
