Abstract

The dynamic mechanical properties (storage modulus and loss) of PZT-5H and PZT-8 ceramics with temperature were investigated at different frequencies (0.1, 0.5, 1, 5, 10Hz) by Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). In addition, under different electric field frequencies, the dielectric properties (dielectric constant and loss) of PZT samples vs. temperature were studied by LCR meter. The Curie temperatures of PZT-5H and PZT-8 tested by DMA are 438 K and 548 K. The storage modulus of each sample has no correlation with frequency in paraelectric phase, whereas it correlates with frequency in ferroelectric phase. The relaxation peak emerges in each elastic loss tangent curve, its position and intensity vary in different laws for PZT-5H and PZT-8. The Curie temperatures of PZT-5H and PZT-8 tested by LCR are 451 K and 573 K. The dielectric loss tangent of PZT-5H and PZT-8 increase with temperature. There is a relaxation peak in each loss tangent curve.
