ABSTRACT
Mesoporous polybenzimidazole, with BET specific surface area of 247 m2/g and 4.4 nm average pore size, was obtained by thermally driven segment rearrangement. Pd nanoparticles immobilized on the polymer were also prepared by post treatment method. High surface area and excellent accessibility of catalytic sites make it very efficient for heterogeneous catalysis. The stability of the catalyst due to intimate contact between nitrogen-rich organic support and metal allows six cycles with only a minor decrease in catalytic yields.
