ABSTRACT
The flexoelectric polarization (Pf) and the sum of flexoelectric coefficients |e1+e3|of 4-cyanoresorcinol bisbenzoate and 1, 2, 4-oxadiazole bent-core nematic liquid crystals have been measured using the technique based on the pyroelectric effect. The hybrid aligned nematic cells are fabricated for measuring the pyroelectric response over the entire range of the nematic phase. It is found that the magnitude of Pf and (|e1+e3|) for the studied bent-core LCs are higher than for the calamitics liquid crystals and these are dependent on the transverse dipole moment of the molecule and the range of nematic phase.
