The Joint Symposium of the Seventh International Conference of the Chinese Society of Micro-Nano Technology and Microsystems and Nanoengineering Summit 2016 (CSMNT2016 & MAN2016), sponsored by Youth Work Committee of China Society for materials research, and Tianjin University was held in Beijing, China from July 28–31, 2016.

The Joint Symposium takes place every two years and is a leading professional conference. It is held to enhance communication, deepen cooperation, pass forward technical information in the field of materials science and technology, share the latest research achievements of Chinese materials science and technology.

The Symposium was to accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, as well as help the development of new technology industries as it meets the needs of China's rapid economic development for the research and development of materials science and technology. It was designed to enhance China's influence and competitiveness in the world material science and technology competition. Famous experts, professors at home and abroad gave lectures during the symposium, which provided a good platform for delegates to discover the latest developments and dynamics of materials science and technology. Researchers, teachers and students in colleges, and technical personnel in industrial community were welcome to contribute and actively participate in the symposium.

In this Joint Symposium, we had 300 world-wide attendees, and received over 200 abstract and paper submissions. After strict peer review 61 of them were accepted and chosen to be published in these three volumes of Ferroelectrics. Consequently, the organizing committee and proceeding editorial committee would like to thank our colleagues at Ferroelectrics, the invited speakers, our sponsors especially the Taylor & Francis Group LLC, and all the delegates for their great contributions to the success of this Conference and these Proceedings.

We are confident that the event will be even more successful in the future.
