Abstract
In this paper, recent advances in porous piezoceramics applications are considered. Technological aspects of large-scale manufacture and use of porous piezoceramics in HIFU, NDT and medical ultrasonic transducers are considered. Two recently appeared application fields of porous piezoceramics, namely HIFU medical transdusers based on ferroelecally hard porous focusing elements and piezoelectrically active membranes for reverse osmosis, ultra- and microfiltration processes are considered. Theoretical aspects of ferroelectrically hard porous ceramics application in HIFU transducers are presented. The original designs of HIFU transducers made from porous piezoelectric ceramics as well as manufacturing technology of porous focusing elements are described. Designs, as well as practical aspects of the use of nano- and microporous piezoceramic elements as piezoelectrically active membranes are considered. The results of feasibility test of experimental samples of composite piezoelectrically active membranes are discussed.
