Abstract
In this article, a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) was applied to investigate the mechanical properties of ferroelectric BaTiO3 and PZT ceramics. Ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transitions were clearly revealed and obvious low frequency relaxation behaviors were characterized. The activation energy of relaxation peak and relaxation limit time of BT was theoretically analyzed using the Arrhenius relationship. The relaxation mechanism of fine grain size (<1 μm) BaTiO3 and hard PZT-8 and PZT-4 ceramics was explained, while no relaxation behavior was found in larger grain size BaTiO3 and soft PZT-5H ceramics.
