Abstract
The properties of ferroelectric liquid crystals in the presence of pressure are studied using Landau theory. The effects of pressure on the transition temperature, helical pitch, spontaneous polarization, tilt angle and dielectric permittivity on ferroelectric liquid crystals are studied extensively. Theoretical results show that the transition temperature, the helical pitch, spontaneous polarization and tilt angle increase with the increase of pressure and the dielectric permittivity decreases with the increase of pressure. We find a good qualitative agreement between theoretical and experimental results.
