Abstract

A novel nanocomposite based on 3-(9-Anthryl)acrolein (AN) grafted onto mPEG-OOH carboxlyated Chitosan (CS-mPEG-AN) was prepared. The composites were further characterized by ultraviolet (UV), fluorescent spectrum, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). It has been demonstrated that the composite formed by ester bond and imine linkages. The powder of CS-mPEG-AN exhibit regular ellipsoid shapes. Fluorescent effect of the composite can be quenched by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with concentration dependence. Nanoparticles of CS-mPEG-AN obtained by direct drying takes cubic shapes with SEM observation. The drug encapsulation and loading efficiency for paclitaxel (PTX) will up to 67.2% and 44.8% by 1:2 feed ratio of CS-mPEG-AN/PTX. In vitro drug release of PTX from the CS-mPEG-AN take 47.0% in acid (pH 5.0) and 27% in basic (pH 7.4) environments. The proposed CS-mPEG-AN composite and nanoparticles have the potential for application in the field of photoelectron transfer and drug delivery.
