The microindentation technique was used to study the mechanical strength properties of PLZT X/65/35 ceramics with X = 7.5 to 10 at.%. The strength dependence on concentration has been established: the mechanical strength increases with La content. The effect of polarization on PLZT mechanical strength has been investigated. It has been shown that after polarization, the mechanical strength of PLZT 7.5/65/35 increases while after thermal depolarization it returns to its initial value. The mechanical strength of PLZT 9.25/65/35 does not change after polarization and thermal annealing. The present study has revealed the temperature hysteresis of the mechanical strength. The influence of different structural factors on the forming of the stressed state in PLZT is studied.
