Abstract
The correlation between the domain width of a periodic domain texture and the sample thickness is often studied. In the present paper, it is demonstrated experimentally that in KDP crystals observed in a section perpendicular to the c axis with needle-shaped domains, the longer the domains are, the wider they are. A model which takes the mechanical energy of the needle tips into account, gives a qualitative explanation of the phenomenon.
