Abstract
Glass formation effect on the soft-mode Raman band was studied in Rb0.65(NH4)0.35H2AsO4 crystal in the temperature range from 291K to 28K. Some extra band, speculated as due to symmetry leakage, had to be assumed as superposed in the wing of the overdamped soft-mode band to obtain meaningful results of the best fit parameters in the two oscillator coupled mode analysis of the observed Raman spectra.
With the extra band contribution separated off from the coupled mode analysis the soft-mode bandwidth (ω1 2/γ1) was extrapolated to go to zero at T ≃ 56K.
