Influence of substrate polarization on epitaxial overgrowth of a deposit

Abstract

The decoration effect of ferroelectric domains in GASH crystals by evaporated AgCl layers was found to be due to different epitaxial orientations depending on the domain polarity. The epitaxy relations are attributed to different structural states of the substrate surface. Recent results on the surface structure of GASH obtained by atomic force microscopy (AFM) are added. For the first time molecular resolution has been achieved in step-free regions. The hexagonal surface lattice with spacings of 0.68 nm corresponds to the unreconstructed bulk structure.
