Abstract
The low frequency dielectric relaxation has been studied for the SmC* phase of the room-temperature ferroelectric liquid crystal mixture. The dielectric spectra have been measured on the „bookshelf”oriented sample in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 100 kHz with the electrical measuring field being parallel to the layer planes. From experimental results presented in this work one can see for the SmC* phase in the real finite samples it is necessary to be taken into account the deformation of director field within the smectic layer fixed by the boundary conditions.
