Abstract
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was applied to the visualization for the surface morphology due to the monoclinic domain structures in NdP5O14 and WO3 at room temperature. The bend of the crystal surface has been observed, which is reasonably explained by the monoclinic lattice distortion. For NdP5O14, the image with high magnification for the domain boundaries was obtained although any peculiar structure was detected. For WO3, in addition to the monoclinic domain structure, the orthorhombic domain boundary was also observed.
